Dr. Ali Y. Bazzi, is the Superintendent of the four HES Academies. Dr. Bazzi has been with HES for almost ten years. Dr. Bazzi has coached athletics for five years, taught in the classroom for three years, and has been an administrator for the past 12 years.

In 2017, Dr. Bazzi was a finalist for the MAPSA Administrator of the Year award, which is handed out to the top performing administrators for their performance and contribution to education. Some of the notable awards that the HES schools received include: #1 Top Performing School by Mackinaw Center for Public Policy (2016), #1 Safest School in the State of Michigan (Niche.com 2016), Bronze Medal – U.S. World News for Best Performing High School (2016), and Silver Medal-U.S. World News for Best Performing High School (2017). Dr. Bazzi received a bachelor’s of arts degree in anthropology from Oakland University, a master’s degree in cultural anthropology from Western Michigan University, an educational specialist degree from Oakland University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Eastern Michigan University.

Dr. Bazzi spent the past ten years focusing his studies in exploring an issue of increasing importance in today’s country; the negotiations and contestations that arise in educational districts.

Dr. Bazzi has worked on establishing literature showing data and techniques that are effective for schools to use. Dr. Bazzi has worked to close the educational gaps within HES schools and has worked with staff on increasing standardized assessment results. Through his studies and collaboration amongst hundreds of staff members, his goal is to get all students to earn a full-ride scholarship, graduate with a post-secondary level degree, and provide good citizenship that helps communities grow.
